PEACHTREE CITY, GA — July 10, 2009 — Dr. Linda Curtis, Area Superintendent for Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment for the Department of Defense (DoD) Domestic Dependent Elementary and Secondary Schools (DDESS) and Department of Defense Dependents Schools, Cuba, (DoDDSCuba) announced today that Mrs. Vicky Parr has been named
principal of Elliot Elementary School, at Beaufort, in the South Carolina/Fort Stewart/DoDDS Cuba District.

Parr, who was born in Michigan, has been with Elisabet Ney Elementary, Lake Jackson, Texas, in the Brazosport Independent School District throughout her education career. She taught third grade for seven years and has served as assistant principal for the past six years. During that time, the school received the Texas Education Agency’s top ranking of ‘Exemplary’ and was recognized as a Distinguished Title I Campus this past year.

“Mrs. Parr’s classroom and administrative experience will make the leadership change at Elliot seamless,” said Curtis, referring to Barbara Hazzard’s recent retirement. “She brings with her a love for children, a passion for education and a goal to build lasting relationships with the Elliot Elementary students, parents and staff.”

Parr earned her Bachelor’s of Science degree in Interdisciplinary Studies and her Master’s Degree in Educational Management both from the University of Houston Clear Lake. She and her husband, Randy, have three children – James, Sam and Hannah.
