WASHINGTON, Feb. 16, 2012 - The Chili Station, a Ludlow, Mass. establishment, is recalling
approximately 3,800 pounds of chili products because they may have been produced without the benefit of
federal inspection, the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced today.
The following products are subject to recall:
- 5 gallon containers and 1-gallon bags of "The Chili Station" Beef Chili with Beans
- 5 gallon containers and 1-gallon of "The Chili Station" Beef Chili with Beans and/or Turkey Chili
Case labels or packaging may bear the establishment numbers "EST. 6380" or "P-6380" inside
the mark of inspection or simply ink-jetted on the case label, and the products were sold in Massachusetts. The
problem was discovered during a routine Food Safety Assessment conducted by FSIS.
FSIS has received no reports of illness due to consumption of these products. Anyone concerned about an illness
should contact a health care provider.
FSIS routinely conducts recall effectiveness checks to verify recalling firms notify their customers of the recall
and that steps are taken to make certain that recalled product is no longer available to consumers. If available,
the retail distribution list(s) will be posted on the FSIS website at:
www.fsis.usda.gov/FSIS_Recalls/Open_Federal_Cases/ index.asp.
