Speaker Boehner: Pro-Growth Patent Measure Will Help Remove Barriers to Job Growth

House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) released the following statement marking the signing of the America Invents Act (H.R. 1249), another component of the Republican jobs agenda:

“Modernizing our patent system for America’s innovators and job creators is an important part of the Republican jobs plan. This bipartisan measure reflects our commitment to find common ground with the president on removing barriers to private-sector job growth, and I’m pleased to see it signed into law.  The House has passed more than a dozen jobs bills this year that are awaiting action in the Democrat-controlled Senate, and it’s important that those bills go to the president’s desk like this one did.  With the unemployment rate still far above what was promised after the ‘stimulus’ spending binge, I urge the Senate to take up these other House-passed measures as quickly as possible.”

NOTE: Earlier this year, President Obama signed another House-passed jobs bill: H.R. 4, Pledge to America legislation repealing the new health care law’s job-crushing small business paperwork mandate. Learn more about the Republican blueprint for job creation at jobs.GOP.gov.
