About Colorado: Northeast Region
Bordering Wyoming, Nebraska and Kansas, the Northeast is multi-faceted. The area spans the rapidly urbanizing Interstate 25 corridor, with its focus on technology and clean energy, to one of the most productive farming and ranching regions in the country. This section of the state contains not only the beauty of the mountains in Rocky Mountain National Park, but the stark openness of the Eastern Plains over which the pioneers traveled to find their fortunes. The history and toughness of these settlers are celebrated in the numerous festivals, fairs, museums and rodeos found throughout the region. Now dotted with wind turbines frequently surrounded by cattle, the region typifies the combination of industries that make Colorado successful and is home to two universities, three community colleges and Northeastern Junior College.

National Public Lands Day
Thursday, September 27, 2012Our state is home to some of the most beautiful landscapes in the country. As a native Westerner, I’ve always been passionate about preserving our natural environment and our way of life. We as Coloradans take great pride in our wilderness, but we also must remember to take care of it. That is why this Saturday, I invite you to partake in the National Public Lands Day volunteer effort. Saturday, September 29th marks the largest single-day volunteer event for public lands in America.
