Youth grant opportunity

Posted by Dan Burton on March 3, 2009

My Twenty-Third Annual Youth Leadership Conference (YLC) was a great success. Thank you to all the ambitious young men and women who attended. Shortly after the conference I learned of an exciting opportunity for the conference attendees and many other students in our state.

Children’s Museum of Indianapolis informed me that The Power of Children Awards, an upcoming scholarship and grant award program, will honor middle and high school students (grade 6-11) in Indiana who have made a significant impact on the lives of others. Those who wish to apply for the award must have demonstrated selflessness and exhibited a commitment to service and the betterment of society. The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis is seeking to nurture and recognize youth as role models who exemplify an extraordinary commitment to public service and social responsibility; youth who have planted the seeds of hope and promise in others.

Each award recipient will receive the following:
• A grant of $2,000, to be used to further the recipient’s extraordinary work
• A 4 year post-secondary educational scholarship to IUPUI
• Recognition in the museum’s The Power of Children exhibit for at least one year

The deadline for the awards is March 14. To learn more about the Power of Children Awards click here. Please contact the Children’s Museum of Indianapolis directly or call Kerry Byrne of my staff at 317-848-0201.
