Transportation

Metro

Take the Blue or Orange Line to the Smithsonian Station. Leave through the Independence Avenue/Bureau of Engraving and Printing Exit. As you step off the escalator go straight ahead on Independence Avenue towards 14th Street. Cross and turn left on 14th Street and the BEP is one block away. During peak season, please make your way to the front of the building on Raoul Wallenberg Place (formerly 15th Street), where you will find the ticket booth. When it is time to take your tour, or if it is non-peak season, please proceed to the entrance on 14th Street.


Metrobus

The BEP is served by Metrobus routes 52, V4 and V6 in DC and 13 from Virginia. Call (202) 637-7000 for information and schedules.


Tourmobile

The BEP is included on the Tourmobile "Washington Mall" tour that operates continually during the day between Washington landmarks. The Tourmobile stop is on Raoul Wallenberg Place, across the street from our ticket booth and the exit point of the tour and visitor center.


DC Circulator

The DC Circulator is the product of a unique public/private partnership between the District Department of Transportation, Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority, and DC Surface Transit, Inc. The stop is on 14th Street and Independence Avenue.


Parking

Parking is extremely limited in the area. Some metered parking is available on side streets, with a two-hour limit. Parking lots are located at the southeast corner of 14th & D Streets, SW; at 12th & Maryland Avenue, SW and at 12th & C Streets, SW.
