Director of Operations, Grants, and Transition Programs since
2005. Directs implementation of Grants to states and other entities.Oversees the operations of veterans
programs among grantees and the states.
Gordon is a retired Army Colonel.He served 26 years in numerous Command and Staff Assignments the United States and overseas.
He has served as a Special Assistant to Army Chiefs of Staff and as Chief of
Legislative Liaison for the Army Budget in the Pentagon.
Before his appointment in the Senior Executive Service at DOL, Gordon was a
Professional Staff member of the Governmental Affairs Committee of the
U.S. Senate.
Since joining the Department of Labor in 2001, he has
served as the Director of Administration in the Mine Safety and Health
Administration and Director of Resource Management, and Director of
Operations and Programs within the Veterans Employment and Training
Service.
Gordon earned a Bachelors of Arts in Finance and
Banking from Howard University in 1972, a Masters of Arts in
International Relations from the University
of Southern California in 1980,
and a Masters of Public Administration from the University of Missouri
in 1984. He is also a graduate of
the Army Command and General Staff College
1983 and the Army
War College
1994.
