Indiana Department of Administration

Minority and Women's Business Enterprises Division

The Minority and Women's Business Enterprises Division (MWBE) acts on behalf of the state of Indiana to actively promote, monitor and enforce the standards for certification of minority, women and veteran business enterprises. The division was developed in 1983 by the state of Indiana in response to Public Law 34 (I.C. 4-13-16.5 and 25 IAC-5) to provide equal opportunity to minority and women enterprises in the state’s procurement and contracting process.

Public Law 34 also created the Governor's Commission on Minority Business Development that is now known as the Governor's Commission on Minority and Women's Business Enterprises. Commission members are advocates for minority and women’s enterprises in state contracting and are active in their respective regions to assist in achieving the MWBE goals for the state of Indiana.

Message from Deputy Commissioner

As this agency moves forward, my goal is to provide more visibility of the available opportunities to do business with the State of Indiana, and also provide resources, educational and otherwise, to help grow your business.

The more business owners I speak with, makes me realize more and more that we are better off because of our differences and when those differences are realized, all of us in the great State of Indiana benefit. I’ve coined a phrase that states, "Supplier Diversity is just the right thing to do!" and here at the State of Indiana Division of Minority and Women's Business Enterprises, we are committed to doing it right!

May you prosper and be fulfilled in all you do.

Terrie F. Daniel
Deputy Commissioner
Minority & Women's Business Enterprises
