5/2/2012 - San Antonio, TX -- The Air Force has reached an agreement with a private recycling company to lease land at Hill AFB, Utah, to develop a materials recycling facility.

The agreement with North Carolina-based ReCommunity, Inc., is a major step toward a full lease of a parcel of land on the installation's southeast corner. With the signing of the development agreement, ReCommunity will make a $50,000 payment to the U.S. Treasury.

When complete, the project will provide a facility for sorting waste material to be processed at the nearby Davis Burn Plant. ReCommunity is the largest recycling company in the United States, with 35 facilities.

The project marks another EUL success story for Hill and the Air Force Real Property Agency. In February, the installation celebrated the opening of a new security forces building and a new west gate facility built with in-kind consideration from the 500-acre Falcon Hill real estate project. Hill is also pursuing renewable energy projects.

The Air Force Real Property Agency acquires, manages and disposes of Air Force-controlled real property worldwide. To date, the Air Force EUL program has closed six projects worth nearly $250 million, and is developing real estate and renewable energy projects at installations across the United States.
