Paid Internships at the CIA
Are you looking for an exciting and challenging internship or cooperative education experience? Consider service with the CIA as an undergraduate or graduate in one of our student programs. If you are an American citizen and can meet the requirements to work in an organization critical to our national security, this is a great chance for you to learn new skills and contribute to the strength and security of the United States.
The CIA is looking for students pursuing a variety of degrees, including:
- engineering,
- computer science,
- mathematics,
- economics,
- foreign languages,
- business administration,
- and many more.
Find the student opportunity that complements your studies:
- Undergraduate Co-Op Program: Co-ops work on an alternating semester or quarterly basis and spend a minimum of three semesters or four quarters (this can include a summer tour) on the job prior to graduation.
- Undergraduate Internship Program: This program is designed to give promising undergraduate students the opportunity to gain practical work experience that complements their studies. Interns work either a combination of one semester and one summer internship, or two 90-day summer internships.
- Undergraduate Scholarship Program: The scholarship program is based on financial need. Students receive an annual salary, an optional benefits package, and money each calendar year for tuition, mandatory fees, books, and supplies. High school seniors planning to enroll in a 4- or 5-year college program, or college freshmen and sophomores enrolled in a 4- or 5-year program are eligible to apply.
- Graduate Studies Program: This program focuses on students pursing graduate degrees in international affairs, languages, economics, geography, cartography, physical sciences and engineering. Students selected for this program should be entering either their first or second year of graduate studies following this assignment. Participants in this program usually serve at least one 90-day tour.

Upon graduation, conversion to staff will be determined by the student’s performance and the opportunities available at the CIA.
