ISAF addresses the threat from insider attacks

Every day tens of thousands of ISAF and Afghan troops and police are fighting side by side across the country. They share the same goal of a stable Afghanistan where terrorists can never again find safe haven.

Tragically, there has been a recent increase in the number of attacks from within this partnership.  While there are differing motives for these attacks, they represent a real concern for NATO commanders. The Commander of the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) in Afghanistan, US General John Allen has made this issue a top priority. An extensive range of measures has been put into place in close coordination with the Afghan authorities to reduce the threat to ISAF troops.
