What We Do

The Central Intelligence Agency is obligated by law to keep congressional committees charged with intelligence oversight fully and currently informed of intelligence activities. Congressional oversight committees include:

  • Senate Select Committee on Intelligence (SSCI)
  • House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence (HPSCI)
  • Defense Subcommittee of the Senate Appropriations Committee (SAC/D)
  • Defense Subcommittee of the House Appropriations Committee (HAC/D)

Agency Officers routinely brief several other committees with national security portfolios. These include Senate Armed Services Committee, House Armed Services Committee, Senate Foreign Relations Committee and House Foreign Affairs Committee.
