How does your job support USSTRATCOM and our missions?
As NCOIC of the USSTRATCOM Joint Color Guard (JCG), I'm responsible for manning, training, and equipping the team. The all-volunteer team provides flag and ceremonial services for on and off base events. Often times, we are the sole impression the public has of Offutt AFB, USSTRATCOM, and/or the military. Professionalism is an extremely important aspect of military operations and grooms public trust. Our JCG members are simply the best at portraying this image on behalf of the command.
What has been your most memorable experience in the military?
My most memorable experience is the cumulative lessons I've learned from professionals of all ranks and grades around me. By looking at challenges as opportunities, I've been able to learn a little from all, and a lot from some.
What is the one piece of information or advice about working at USSTRATCOM that you'd pass on to new members of the USSTRATCOM team?
Get involved in an activity that forces you to leave your office area and meet new people. I've learned the most about other branches of service by being involved in the Joint Color Guard.
