10/21/2010 - RANDOLPH AIR FORCE BASE, Texas (AFNS) -- More than 860 officers and 90 civilians were selected for intermediate and senior developmental education opportunities during the 2010 Officer and Civilian Developmental Education boards conducted here.
The officer and civilian selectee lists are available on the Air Force Personnel Center public website at http://www.afpc.randolph.af.mil and the Air Force Portal.
More than 3,600 officers applied for IDE and SDE and more than 200 civilians applied through the Civilian Developmental Education Program. The final designation lists were approved by Lt. Gen. Richard Newton, the Air Force deputy chief of staff for manpower and personnel, on Oct. 5.
"The Air Force emphasizes the development of the entire workforce, military and civilian," said Mrs. Michelle Lowe-Solis, AFPC civilian force integration director. "The civilian continuum of learning ensures high potential employees are prepared for increased responsibility and shared leadership with military counterparts."
The Air Force Officer Professional Military Education Program is central to a continuum of education that spans an officer's professional career, said Col. David Slade, AFPC assignments director.
There are four levels of professional military education: the Aerospace Basic Course, Squadron Officer School, Air Command and Staff College and Air War College. Air Force officers and civilians may also participate in other service, joint, Department of Defense, international and civilian PME equivalent programs.
Officers and civilians who are selected for IDE or SDE should visit their respective personnel offices for school information and reporting instructions.
