10/21/2010 - BOISE, Idaho (AFNS)  -- Members of the 917th Wing and 47th Fighter Squadron from Barksdale Air Force Base, La., compete in Hawgsmoke 2010 here Oct. 13. The competition involved 40 jets and 72 pilots from 18 different units and was hosted by the Idaho Air National Guard's 124th Wing.

Glad to see our AF is emphasizing these competitions again. With money crunches in past years and deployments, many units elected to not participate. Having done several USAF comps while on active duty I can attest to this being huge for team building pride and unit cohesion. Recommend the AF continue these and commanders make every effort to get their units to compete.
