Community

The Ames Laboratory is a vital part of Iowa State University, the Ames community and the state of Iowa. It is the only one of the 17 Department of Energy national laboratories located in Iowa and is one of Ames' larger employers with 400 full- and part-time employees.

With an annual budget of more than $32 million, the Ames Laboratory has a profound impact on the local and regional economy. As a group, Ames Laboratory employees are also involved in a wide variety of communities activities and their individual contributions are immeasurable.
