Major General William F. Schauffert

to the Commander

Maj. Gen. William F. Schauffert is the Mobilization Assistant to the Commander, U.S. Strategic Command, Offutt Air Force Base, Neb. He is also the Director, Reserve Directorate, and Commander, Joint Strategic Reserve Unit. U.S. Strategic Command's operational mission areas include full-spectrum global strike, space operations, computer network operations, Department of Defense information operations, strategic warning, integrated missile defense, global command, control, communications, computers, intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance, combating weapons of mass destruction and specialized expertise to the joint warfighter.

General Schauffert served more than 11 years in the regular Air Force and was an operational test and evaluation pilot before joining the Air Force Reserve in 1989. He has commanded a fighter squadron and an expeditionary fighter squadron during Operation Enduring Freedom. He is a graduate of the USAF Fighter Weapons School with more than 4,500 hours in fighter aircraft, including combat time in Bosnia-Herzegovina, Iraq and Afghanistan. The general has served as deputy group commander, wing inspector general, vice wing commander, and as mobilization assistant at the Numbered Air Force and major command level.
