PTO TO OPEN THE PATENT AND TRADEMARK MUSEUM
PTO TO OPEN THE PATENT AND TRADEMARK MUSEUM
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE The Commerce Department's Patent and Trademark Office will open a museum on Tuesday, July 25 that explains the vital role that patents, trademarks and individual inventors play in shaping our economy and our daily lives. A reception and ceremony dedicating the museum to Isaac Fleischmann, former Director of PTO's Public Affairs Office, will begin at 5 PM. Commissioner Lehman will be joined by former Commissioners Donald Banner, Gerald Mossinghoff, and Donald Quigg at the opening celebration. Isaac Fleischman, a longtime employee and strong advocate on behalf of U.S. intellectual property rights, will participate in the dedication. The museum, open to the public Monday-Friday from 10 AM to 4 PM, includes a variety of displays: an exhibit on Thomas A. Edison, patent models from the 1800's, an exhibit on "trademarks: fingerprints of commerce," patent copies and drawings from PTO's archives, and many other interesting historical artifacts. The opening celebration will be held at 2121 Crystal Drive, Crystal Park 2, Suite 0100 in Crystal City. If you are interested in covering this event, please contact the PTO Public Affairs Office at (703) 305-8341. #####
