PTO and BIO to Hold Two-Day Biotech Conference
PRESS RELEASEThe U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (PTO) and the Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO) are sponsoring two days of presentations, August 24 and 25, 1999, on biotechnology, pharmaceutical, and organic chemistry. Over 200 patent practitioners interested in biotechnology patenting are expected to attend.
The first day of events will include discussions of biotechnology policy issues by high-ranking PTO officials, followed by a town hall meeting, which will allow attendees to ask questions on the presentations. Q. Todd Dickinson, Acting Commissioner of Patents and Trademarks will be the luncheon speaker. An open house will offer the chance to meet and talk with PTO's biotech management, search and examining staff, and the opportunity to tour the agency's biotech facilities. A panel with Q & A, moderated by John Doll , head of the agency's biotech examining operation, on the second day will feature patent prosecution in the areas of DNA, transgenic animals, immunology, and organic chemistry.
