About the Condensed Matter Theory Group

The theory group conducts basic research over a wide swath of theoretical physics, ranging from strongly correlated electrons to first principle electronic structure theory. We coordinate our research efforts closely with experimental efforts both within the CMPMS Department as well as the Center for Functional Nanomaterials. Our main topics of research are:

  • Theory of high temperature superconductivity
  • Low dimensional transport in nanostructures and mesoscopic systems
  • Low dimensional magnetism
  • Wannier function based approaches to first principle computations
