A Group Visit to Permanent Exhibition: The Holocaust
Passes to enter the Museum’s Permanent Exhibition are not required September through February. Year-round, no passes are required to enter the Museum or to visit our special exhibitions, but passes are required for the Permanent Exhibition from March through August.
General Information and Instructions
- From March through August, if your group has fewer than 40 people, please obtain passes to our Permanent Exhibition: The Holocaust in advance for a small service charge, or for free in person at the Museum on the day of your visit. Please note that the supply of advance passes and same-day Permanent Exhibition: The Holocaust passes is limited and is available on a first-come, first-served basis.
- Group reservations are free and must be submitted using the Museum’s online reservation system. Requests are processed on a first-come, first served basis, and may be submitted from 24 hours to 12 months in advance of the visit date. It is highly recommended that groups who wish to visit during the spring and summer months complete their reservations well in advance of their visit date due to high demand during that period.
- An electronic confirmation letter (e-mail) serves as the group’s timed-entry reservation. It is sent at the conclusion of the reservation process. - Adequate supervision of students and their conduct is essential. A minimum chaperone ratio of 1 adult for every 5 students (under age 18) is highly recommended. Chaperones are expected to ensure the proper conduct of students in their group at all times. For further information, please see our Building Rules and Regulations.
- Groups scheduled to visit the Permanent Exhibition: The Holocaust check in and enter at the Raoul Wallenberg Place (15th Street) entrance. Help us prepare your group for entry by forming a single file line, with a chaperone at the front and back of your group.
Arrival and Entry
All visitors must pass through security, which includes metal detectors and scanners. Please arrive 15 minutes in advance of your reservation to allow time to pass through security. Since the Museum does not have the check room capacity to hold the personal items of groups, it is strongly recommended that groups do not bring their coats and bags with them to the Museum.
Small booklets, or Identification Cards, are given to visitors just before they enter the Permanent Exhibition: The Holocaust. The cards personalize Holocaust history by telling the story of someone who was persecuted during the Nazi era.
