Introduction to DoD Security Specialist Course GS020.16

[Register to take this course]

Description: This introductory course will communicate the Phase I, Phase I Final Examination, and Phase II requirements of the DoD Security Specialist Course Curriculum, GS020.CU, and will serve as a meta-organizer that ties all the pieces of the curriculum together.  The intent of this Phase I online program of study will provide learners with a comprehensive and systematic introduction to the four major security disciplines (Information, Physical, Personnel, and Industrial Security) and encourage the learner to complete the courses in groups, or "units.”  Approaching the content in this way adds context and continuity of learning by grouping like concepts together.  Phase I provides the baseline knowledge and skills that will prepare learners to effectively apply their understanding of the DoD security programs during the Phase II instructor led course of study.

Learners must register for the DoD Security Specialist Course Curriculum (GS020.CU), which will allow a simultaneous registration of all Phase I courses and examinations within the curriculum.  Learners shall pre-register for the iteration of the DoD Security Specialist Course they wish to attend through STEPP.  Once the pre-registration is completed, learners will receive a confirmation e-mail which also contains the link for registering for the DoD Security Specialist Course Curriculum (GS020.CU).  Since learners retain the option to “test out” of each Phase I course, registration for the curriculum will automatically include registration for the examinations, but learners will be responsible for selecting the courses they want to take once inside the curriculum.  All courses and/or examinations must be completed before access to the Phase 1 Final Examination will be granted.  When all Phase I requirements (to include the Phase I Final Exam), of the curriculum have been satisfied, you will then be eligible to attend the Phase II instructor led portion of the course, based on seat availability at the time of completion.

**CDSE recommends that learners complete the courses to prepare for taking associated examinations, but if the learner knows the subject matter, they may go directly to the examination.**
