Rear Admiral (Select) Brian K. Antonio

Rear Adm. (select) Brian K. Antonio, a Maryland native, graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1983 where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Naval Architecture.

Antonio received his surface warfare qualification onboard USS Peterson (DD 969).  He subsequently became an engineering duty officer and received a Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering and a Naval Engineer's degree in 1990 from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

As an engineering duty officer, Antonio’s tours have included exchange officer duties with the Canadian Forces’ Directorate of Ship Engineering; ship superintendent for the Complex Overhauls of USS Nassau (LHA 4) and USS Saipan (LHA 2), as well as a project superintendent for the Baseline Advanced Industrial Management (BAIM) Program at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard; fleet maintenance budget officer on the staff of the U.S. Atlantic Fleet; deputy acquisition program manager for the LPD 17 Class Program; a division director in PEO Ships to plan and implement life cycle strategies for the Navy’s surface fleet; ship design manager for the CVN 78 Class aircraft carrier; and chief of staff to the Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Navy for Ships (DASN (Ships)).

From 2007 to 2011, Antonio served as the program manager for Future Aircraft Carriers, PMS 378.  His assignment spanned from lead ship contract award and start of CVN 78 full scale production to initial steel cutting for the second ship of the class, CVN 79.  His most recent assignment was the executive assistant and naval aide to the Assistant Secretary of the Navy for Research, Development and Acquisition.

Antonio’s personal awards include the Legion of Merit (three awards), Meritorious Service Medal (five awards) and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.  He is a member of the American Society of Naval Engineers and the Acquisition Professional Community.
