Rear Adm. Bond is the director of Command and Control Systems (J6) at NORAD/USNORTHCOM. Prior to this assignment, he was director of Communications and Information Systems (J6), United States Forces-Iraq.
Operational and sea-duty assignments include division officer assignments in USS Augusta (SSN 710); navigator/operations officer in USS Alexander Hamilton (SSBN 617); commanding officer of Naval Computer & Telecommunications Station Guam, and knowledge manager on the staff of Commander, Cruiser/Destroyer Group 12 in the USS Enterprise Strike Group deploying in support of Operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom. He also served on the combined staff of Commander, Naval Forces Europe/Africa and Commander, 6th Fleet in Naples, Italy, where he served as deputy director for Communication and Information Systems/N6.
Shore duty tours include Naval Submarine School instructor; U.S. Naval Academy company officer and executive assistant to the Commandant, Joint Interoperability Test Command in Fort Huachuca, Ariz., Navy Personnel Command; and, Naval Network Warfare Command (NNWC) as special assistant for Knowledge Management. While at NNWC he served on Task Force Navy Family following Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. He also served on the Navy Staff in Washington, D.C., as an acting division director (OPNAV N61), and was a chief of naval operations (CNO) fellow on CNO Strategic Studies Group XXIX in Newport, R.I.
Bond, a Navy information professional officer and member of the Navy's Information Dominance Corps, graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1983 with a degree in Physics. He received a Master of Engineering Management (MEM) degree from the George Washington University and a Master of Science degree in National Resource Strategy from the Industrial College of the Armed Forces.
