Register for CDSE's Applying Physical Security Concepts Curriculum

Are you military, a Department of Defense (DoD) civilian, or a contractor involved in the planning and management of a physical security program? Are you new to the physical security discipline or in need of refresher training? If so, the Center for Development of Security Excellence (CDSE) can assist you with meeting your training needs with the "Applying Physical Security Concepts" curriculum.

This web-based training curriculum identifies prerequisite requirements for the instructor-led “Applying Physical Security Concepts” course, PY201.01. The curriculum reviews comprehensive theories and principles as applied to physical security measures in the protection of DoD assets and discusses how the risk management model drives physical security planning and implementation. The intent of this program of study is to provide the skills and knowledge base students require to effectively apply physical security concepts and practices, acquire and analyze the information necessary for protecting assets, and allocate security resources. Learn about the "Applying Physical Security Concepts" Course

Once you have completed the web-based "Applying Physical Security Concepts" curriculum, you are eligible to take the instructor-led "Applying Physical Security Concepts" course. This 5-day course will apply the risk management process for DoD Security Programs for the purpose of development of a physical security plan. Learners will initially review risk management and physical security concepts, processes, and terms, as well as physical security measures and security-in-depth. The course will provide significant application of risk management processes to analyze assets, threats, and vulnerabilities; calculate risks; and determine physical security countermeasures. The application of risk management culminates in writing justifications for physical security measures and preparing input for a statement of work for the acquisition process for the purpose of developing a physical security plan for a DoD facility or installation.
