CDSE Announces the Release of the Introduction to the NISP Certification and Accreditation Process Course (IS100.16)

December 2, 2010 - The CDSE has released the Introduction to the NISP Certification and Accreditation Process Course and Final Examination (IS100.16/06) to the NISP community. The target audience for the course is individuals that are assigned duties related to the Certification and Accreditation Process.

This two-hour online course allows students to understand the certification and accreditation (C&A) process and contractual requirements that govern the C&A process. It also allows students to learn the policies and standards used to protect information within computer systems in support of the DSS mission. In addition, the course identifies and defines the Government and contractor roles and responsibilities and the risk management process as it relates to the certification and accreditation process.

Once the course is successfully completed, students will be instructed to register for the final examination, which takes approximately 1 to 2 hours to complete. A passing score for the final examination is 75 percent, and each student has a maximum of two attempts to pass. If the examination is not passed after two attempts, the student will have to wait 72 hours before registering and taking the final examination again.
