At the direction of Gov. Mark Dayton, an additional Minnesota National Guard helicopter with aircrew and maintenance support team are scheduled to depart tonight from the Army Aviation Support Facility located in St. Cloud, MN.

"Due to increased winds, additional assets were requested to assist in the fire suppression efforts near Karlstad, Minnesota," said Army Major Scott J. Rohweder, chief of operations for the Joint Operations Center, Minnesota National Guard.

"Seven Soldiers and a CH-47 Chinook helicopter are joining the two Black Hawk helicopters and crew who departed earlier today," said Rohweder.
