Getting fit to fight is critical to success on the battlefield. But first, you'll want to get fit for Basic Combat Training Basic Combat Training:
Basic Combat Training (BCT) is a 10-week course of intense physical and mental training, during which recruits develop essential Soldier skills, discipline and values.

At BCT, your mind and body will be pushed to the limit. You'll overcome your fears and graduate as an American Soldier. So how do you get from fit-for-the-couch to fit-for-Basic? Simple: Train up.

Prior to Basic Combat Training (BCT), you'll be tested to measure your level of physical fitness, using a version of the Army Physical Fitness Test (APFT). This test measures the number of push-ups and sit-ups you can complete within a given time, and the amount of time it takes to complete up to a two-mile run.
