Israel and the Middle East
As a beacon of democracy surrounded by hostile theocracies, tyrannical dictatorships, and genocidal regimes, Israel needs our help more than ever.
Israel is our closest ally. As a beacon of democracy surrounded by hostile theocracies, tyrannical dictatorships, and genocidal regimes, Israel needs our help more than ever. Radical Islamists seek to destroy Israel, just as they seek to destroy our country and our way of life.
Israel has the right to defend itself from these existential threats, and it has the right to do so before it is too late. As a small country, it has no geographic advantage to mount a defense. Its best defense is a swift offense when it becomes apparent that another state or state affiliated group is threatening it. We know that the United Nations will not assist Israel, and in recent years, the United Nations has acted shamefully and disgracefully towards Israel (and towards the United States). I am a member of the bipartisan United States Israel Allies Caucus. In addition, I successfully sponsored the “Gosar Israel Amendment” that prohibited any of our tax money from being used to support any regime that consists of parties or groups that refuse to recognize the right of Israel to exist. My concern for the future of this region of the world though is, at the moment, particularly focused on Egypt and the possibility of control or involvement by the Muslim Brotherhood.
