The House has voted 315 times this Congress to block action to address climate change, to halt efforts to reduce air and water pollution, to undermine protections for public lands and coastal areas, and to weaken the protection of the environment in other ways.  The Democratic staff of the Energy and Commerce Committee has released a report with an updated analysis of the anti-environment record of the House of Representatives in the 112th Congress and provided a searchable database of the anti-environment votes.

The Affordable Care Act has achieved numerous benefits while bringing down health care costs and reducing the deficit.

Today Energy and Commerce Committee Ranking Member Henry A. Waxman, Energy and Power Subcommittee Ranking Member Bobby L. Rush, and Communications and Technology Subcommittee Ranking Member Anna G. Eshoo sent letters to Department of Energy Secretary Steven Chu and EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson to request an update on efforts to improve energy efficiency in data centers across the county.  Recent reports suggest that many data centers are consuming vast amounts of energy, wasting up to 90% of the electricity they pull off the grid.

Ed Markey and Henry A. Today Energy and Commerce Committee Ranking Member Henry A. Waxman and Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee Ranking Member Diana DeGette sent a letter to Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Fred Upton, Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee Chairman Cliff Stearns, and Health Subcommittee Chairman Joe Pitts pointing out the Republicans’ silence on the role AARP played in the enactment of the Medicare prescription drug law under the Bush Administration.  In the letter, the members state that “oversight should be fair and evenhanded” and that their “pre-election missive to AARP does not meet this standard.”
