Eshoo sent letters to Department of Energy Secretary Steven Chu and EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson to request an update on efforts to improve energy efficiency in data centers across the county. Recent reports suggest that many data centers are consuming vast amounts of energy, wasting up to 90% of the electricity they pull off the grid.
