Overview

The Licensing Support Network (LSN) is an electronic system, which was established by the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and is operated by the NRC's Atomic Safety and Licensing Board Panel. Its purpose is to provide free Internet access to documents that may be used as evidence in the NRC's review process and associated licensing proceedings associated with the application that the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) submitted to seek authorization to construct a high-level radioactive waste repository at Yucca Mountain, Nevada. As such, the LSN is the single place where the parties and potential parties to the licensing hearing can search for materials from any/all of the parties' documentary collections in a uniform way.

This brochure provides an overview of the LSN and answers related questions, including who may enter documents, who may use the LSN, how to use the system, where access to the LSN is available. In addition, this brochure presents several additional sources of help in navigating and using the LSN; obtaining copies of documents; and reporting problems, making recommendations, or offering comments. The NRC also encourages interested parties to visit the LSN Web site at www.lsnnet.gov, and welcomes ideas for improving that site.
