Training: Digital Evidence Collection
The Digital Evidence Collection Training course teaches digital evidence collection techniques to state and local law enforcement officers throughout the United States.
The training course and proficiency test is based on the NIJ publication Electronic Crime Scene Investigation: A Guide for First Responders, Second Edition, first published in April 2008. The guide, one of NIJ's most requested publications, has been well received by the criminal justice community and is now available in a more portable laminated version.
Participants who successfully complete the training and pass a proficiency test will receive a certificate of proficiency.
The first Digital Evidence Collection Training course, which was delivered as a workshop at the 2009 NIJ Conference in Arlington, Va., received excellent reviews. This course has since been taught to state and local law enforcement personnel in Arizona, Iowa, Nebraska, New Jersey, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and Michigan.
