A two-time medal winner, Matt Emmons from Brown Mills will compete in several shooting events as a member of the USA Shooting team. His forte is the 50 m Prone Rifle event, which will take place on August 3rd. He is married to Czech Republic shooter Katerina Kurkova and enjoys playing golf and guitar in his free time.

 

Sicklerville wrestler Jordan Burroughs has won every tournament he has entered since 2009. He is currently the World Champion in freestyle wrestling. His career has enjoyed national attention since his senior year at Winslow Township High School. He plans to compete in every world and Olympic competition until his wrestling career ends in 2017, and then intends to pursue a career in mixed martial arts.

 

Rachel Dawson, who was born in Camden and grew up in Berlin, has been a member of the national Field Hockey team since 2001. She participated in the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, where the US team finished in eighth place. She has worked as an assistant coach at Princeton, and recently passed the milestone of her 150th international match.

 

Piscataway's Asjha Jones plays forward on the US Women's Basketball Team. Her ten-year professional career with the Washington Mystics and the Connecticut Sun has earned her several awards including the WBCA All-American and the WNBA All-Star selections. She has also played on international club teams.

 

Connor Jaeger from Fair Haven is a rising junior at the University of Michigan. He qualified for the USA Swimming team in the very last event of the Olympic trials. Throughout his high school and college career, he has been highly decorated as both a student and an athlete.

 

Carli Lloyd plays midfield on the USA Women's Soccer Team. The Rutgers grad from Delran scored the winning goal for the 2008 gold medal. With nearly a hundred international games under her belt, she brings valuable experience to the US team.

 

Steve Kasprzyk began rowing during his undergraduate years at Drexel University. Although he got a late start, the Cinnaminson resident has since brought the US Rowing team many first-place wins and medals. He will be a part of the Men's eight boat that competes on July 28th. He enjoys marathon running and mountain biking in his spare time.

 

A resident of Englewood Cliffs, Christina McHale has won against Grand Slam champions and is competitive on the professional circuit. She is ranked 29th in the world and will compete in singles at the Olympics along with veterans like the Williams sisters. The 20-year-old has been playing pro since she was 17.

 

Jeff Porter of Somerset will run in the men's 110-m hurdles event on August 7th. The Franklin High School graduate has won championship titles at the 2001 Junior Olympics and the 2007 NCAA indoor championship. He is married to Tiffany Porter, who will run hurdles for Great Britain at the 2012 Olympics.

 

Cherry Hill native Michelle Vittese will play forward for the US Field Hockey team. Named 2011 Player of the Year, she put her college education on hold to focus on qualifying for the national team. Her dedication will be valuable in taking the US to their first victory since 1984.

 

New Brunswick native Cullen Jones learned to swim after a near-death experience in a splash pool when he was 5. He was the first African American to win an Olympic gold medal in Swimming and holds the World Record for the 4X100 Freestyle relay. In 2006, he was named the Fastest Swimmer in the World. In his free time, he gives motivational speaking lessons and holds youth clinics.

 

USA Fencer Maya Lawrence has competed in the Senior World Championship four times. Ranked #2 in the country, she will represent the US in the Epee event. Originally from Teaneck, she now lives and trains in St. Maur, France. She will be competing in both individual and team Epee events.

 

Nick Delpopolo is currently ranked #1 in US Judo. Originally from Montenegro, he was adopted by a family from  Westfield where he grew up. Judo has been his passion since the age of 5 and he is well poised to become the first American to bring home the gold.

 

Soccer midfielder Heather O'Reilly from New Brunswick started on the US team when she was 17. She holds the record for the most games – 63 – played consecutively and is a two-time Olympic gold medalist. She was named Soccer America's #1 college recruit in the country as well as ESPN All-American Player of the Year.

 

Steven Gluckstein has won many international victories for the US Gymnastics Team. Coming from a family of trampolinsts, he has won the US championship three times. He has lived in Atlantic Highlands, NJ his entire life, and begun trampoline at the age of 10.

 

Saber fencer Dagmara Wozniak, who grew up in Woodbridge Township, is ranked #2 in the nation and #10 in the world. She has won medals at the Pan American Games and the Senior World Championships. In 2008, at the age of just 20, she traveled with the US Olympic team as a substitute.

 

Soccer captain Christie Rampone of Point Pleasant will play in her fourth Olympics this year. She has also played in 4 FIFA World Cups and has never placed lower than third in all the world cups and Olympic games in which she has played. She has two daughters and is the only mother on the US Soccer team.

 

Three-time Olympic medalist Rebecca Soni from Freehold Bourough will return to compete in women's breaststroke events on July 29. She has been ranked the world's top breaststroker since the 2008 Olympics in Beijing. She is a spokeswoman for the United Nations Foundation's Girl Up campaign.

 

Rutgers and North Hunterdon High School graduate Julie Culley will participate in the women's 5000 meter event. She was the first American athlete to finish at the 2009 World Championships. While at Rutgers, she was named the Big East Athlete Scholar of the Year. She plans to train in Europe to avoid distractions.

 

As a midfielder on the US Soccer Team, Tobin Heath has won Olympic gold and a FIFA Women's World Cup silver medals. The Basking Ridge resident who was born in Morristown has been called "perhaps the USA's most skillful player" by the United States Soccer Federation. She was the youngest player on the 2008 Olympic team and the second youngest on the 2010 World Cup team.
