Action On Telecommunication & Technology |
Increasingly, telecommunications and technology are part of our everyday lives. Computers are common in our homes and workplaces. E-mail traffic continues to grow. Cell phones not only receive calls, but browse the Internet, function as alarm clock and appointment reminders, and serve as instant messengers between friends and family members.
Nearly 70 percent of Americans use the Internet on a regular basis. While these changes are exciting and innovative, it is important that Congress promotes and maximizes technology in a way that keeps our country in the forefront of the field. It can improve our quality of life. It will strengthen our economy and eradicate trade barriers.
As a member of the Senate Republican High Tech Task Force, I am pleased to advocate for sound tax, trade and regulaory policies that ensure that we will remain on the cutting edge of research, development and innovation, ensuring that Americans have greater opportunity through technology and telecommunications advancement.
