June 12–13, 2012 - FERC Commission Meeting Room Washington, DC Event Details | Pamphlet with Agenda PDF

    Who should attend?
FERC Hydro Licensees and Consultants Background: The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission’s 2009-2014 Strategic Plan has a stated objective to minimize risk to the public. The Commission’s Division of Dam Safety and Inspections is tasked with incorporating risk-informed decision-making (RIDM) into the Commission’s dam safety program. This course has been designed to both keep the FERC dam safety community apprised of our progress in implementing RIDM and to provide an introductory training in Risk concepts for dam safety. This two day workshop will cover the principles of risk, including probabilistic loading, consequence estimation, risk analysis, and risk assessment, to name a few. There will also be ample opportunity for feedback and participation in the development of the RIDM program. No previous risk experience is necessary.

Presenters will include Messrs. Patrick Regan, David Lord, Eric Gross, and Doug Johnson, for the FERC; Douglas Boyer for the Corps of Engineers; an owner, and a consultant to be announced

The sessions will be limited to 200 attendees, each.
