Region 9’s personal property team donates F-16 to aviation museum in New Jersey

177th New Jersey Air Guard Squadron restores donated F-16Region 9’s group responsible for personal property for reuse and sale, in collaboration with the New Jersey State Agency for Surplus Property, worked to donate a surplus Air Force F-16 to the Naval Air Station Wildwood (NASW) Aviation Museum in Cape May, NJ.

When the aircraft arrived on June 1, it needed to be reassembled and painted. Volunteers from the local 177th New Jersey Air Guard Squadron at the Atlantic City Airport helped the museum put the plane back together and gave the museum tips on how to care for the plane. Valuing at a donation of over $15 million, the aircraft will be on static display for visitors to sit in and view up close.

“It is a beautiful airplane,” said Joe Salvatore, NASW Chairman. “We are so appreciative of having it and will take care of it as if it were the only one in the world.”

The region excels as the national center for aircraft disposal for GSA.
