Afghan National Army (ANA) Logistics Command’s Women’s Center Ministry of Defenses’ Acquisitions, Technology, and Logistics’ Headquarters Logistics Command continues to be pioneers of progress, equality, and opportunity for women by facilitating the union of women in the ANA. These women have become present-day pioneers. They are the future’s role models, breaking free from traditional molds. While walking around Log Command, seeing the women work in a military capacity, the future of their role being that of an equal in the ANA is more than just hopeful, it is rapidly becoming a reality. With the upcoming female specific OCS, the anticipation of greater responsibility is joyfully welcomed by the women as well as the men. Having more qualified people to do the job will help to alleviate some of the pressure that has been felt with the increase in work load. The increase of 50 positions in Log Command that have been allocated for women joining the force, in conjunction with the supplementary training, will benefit all members of the ANA.

SDC10297While some growing pains are expected, the women are stepping up to any challenge that is presented to them. In order to be the most prepared military members possible, the women have undergone multiple training courses. They have received weapons training, CPR, SABC, and combat life skills classes. Also, many of the women take English/Dari lessons during their lunch period. This is the kind of motivation that is extremely prevalent within the group of women we have at Log Command. These women are willing to work as hard as possible in order to help the mission.

The integration of women in the ANA workforce was celebrated by all when Log Command hosted Women’s Day. SDC10268As long as women are continually being trained in a military capacity, they will continue to respect themselves as well as the job they are being called to do. The journey is far from over, but continuing with the determination to become equal members of the Afghan society as a whole, the women of the ANA are perfect for paving the road for future generations.SDC10298
