Paul Newman Selected as Chief of the Automated Export System Branch

From the Desk of Nick Orsini, Chief, Foreign Trade Division . . .

I am pleased to announce the selection of Paul Newman as Chief of the Automated Export System (AES) Branch, effective May 22, 2011. Mr. Newman began his career at the U.S. Census Bureau in 1991 with the Foreign Trade Division, where he spent six years in the Commodity Analysis Branch as an analyst of mineral, metal and textile commodities.

In 1997, Mr. Newman joined the newly formed AES Branch where he was instrumental in the development, implementation, and support of the AES and AESDirect. He later became supervisor of the AESDirect Liaison Team and received the Census Bureau Director’s Award for Innovation for the implementation of AESPcLink.  He also participated on numerous teams involving the AES and AESDirect, two of which received the Vice-Presidential Hammer Award.

Mr. Newman earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from the University of Maryland and holds a Master’s Certificate in Project Management from the George Washington University.
