Military OneSource This site provides information and resources to help balance work and family life. Consultants are available twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week by phone, online, or via email offering personalized support to any service member, DoD civilian personnel designated as Civilian Expeditionary Workforce, or family member. Military OneSource can connect individuals with a trained, state-licensed mental health professional in the community, telephonically, or online for confidential/private counseling.  Military OneSource offers twelve free in-person counseling sessions per person, per issue.  For those unable to attend face-to-face counseling, Military OneSource arranges telephone and online consultations.

To contact Military OneSource by phone, twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, call Stateside at 1-800-342-9647. The Military OneSource website lists specific dialing information for other countries.

Military and Family Life Counselors (MFLCs), and Veterans Assistance Centers (VA Centers) also offer short-term counseling. They provide up to twelve sessions of non-medical, short-term counseling per person, per issue for every day issues, such as anger management, stress, grief, communication, family relationships, deployment, and other military-related topics.  Anyone using these services will not receive a bill or be charged a co-payment for services.  MFLCs are available through installation locations such as the Army Community Services (ACS), Marine Corps Community Services (MCCS), Navy Fleet and Support Centers (FFSC), and the Airman and Family Readiness Centers (A&FRC).  Active duty, National Guard and Reserve service members, DoD civilian personnel designated as Civilian Expeditionary Workforce members and their families are eligible to receive counseling services from Military OneSource.

International Society For Traumatic Stress Studies This site offers a wide range of professional information related to traumatic stress.

The National Center for Post-Traumatic Stress Syndrome  This is a link for military members and professionals working with military members who are returning from combat and war zones. The website offers a section specifically for mental health care providers. Within this section are fact sheets, links to recent research studies, and detailed information about the assessment and treatment of PTSD. 

Office for Victims of Crime This is a government website from the Office of Justice Programs, U.S. Department of Justice. The Office of Victims of Crime has a wide range of resources and information for the general public as well as for practitioners in the field.

Sidran Institute The Sidran Institute is a well known non-profit, professional organization which offers a variety of resources and information related to traumatic stress.
