Deployment

 

Project Families Overcoming Under Stress (FOCUS) Project FOCUS is designed to help service members and families address the impact of multiple deployments, combat stress, and high operational tempo on children and families. The program has received extremely positive feedback from commanders, program managers, members and families, and has shown significant positive impacts on reduction of conflict behaviors and emotional symptoms in children and has also resulted in an increase in their positive behaviors.  At the installation level, Project FOCUS is considered another service within the family support umbrella, typically provided through the installation Family Center. Project FOCUS is currently available only on select Marine Corps and Navy installations.

Sesame Street Family Connections Sesame Street Family Connections is a bilingual (English/Spanish), child centered, online space where children and adults can interact and stay connected when distance makes everyday communications difficult. Family members can compose encouraging messages to each other, share artwork and videos, upload photos, and get answers to some questions they may have but don't know how to ask. The Sesame Street Family Connections serves as a free, common and private online place to keep military families connected across the globe.

Employment

CareerOneStop This Department of Labor-sponsored website provides career resources and workforce information to job seekers, students, businesses and workforce professionals to foster talent development in a global economy. It also provides content specifically designed for military spouses including employment resources, education and training help, and relocation information. 

Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Information for Employees Called to Active Duty The VA provides veterans the world-class benefits and services they have earned and does so by adhering to the highest standards of compassion, commitment, excellence, professionalism, integrity, accountability and stewardship. The VA Information for Employees Called to Active Duty website provides information, guides, tip sheets, checklists and answers to frequently asked questions for employed National Guard and Reserve service members who are called to active duty.

DisaboomJobs DisaboomJobs is the leading online resource for jobs for people with disabilities. DisaboomJobs represent companies that are actively seeking to recruit and provide employment for people with disabilities as part of their inclusive workforce. The website allows users to search among more than 600,000 jobs and/or career opportunities, create a user profile, upload résumés, and showcase a user's skills to potential employers.

Employer Support of the National Guard and Reserve (ESGR) ESGR is a Department of Defense agency that seeks to promote a culture in which all American employers support and value the military service of their employees. Each state and territory has a local ESGR program support specialist to assist military members and their families in a myriad of employment concerns.

Employment and Disability Institute Operated by Cornell University, the Employment and Disability Institute website contains articles, checklists, a glossary, and links to useful disability resources to help human resource professionals adhere to the Americans with Disabilities Act.

GettingHired.com GettingHired.com is an Internet-based portal that connects job seekers with disabilities to committed employers, advocacy organizations, and service providers.

National Center on Workforce and Disability (NCWD) The NCWD provides training, technical assistance, policy analysis, and information to improve access for all in the Workforce Development System. The NCWD website provides information on disability basics, laws and policy, services for youth, and information specifically targeted to career seekers and employers.

National Collaborative on Workforce and Disability for Youth (NCWD/Youth) The NCWD/Youth assists state and local workforce development systems to better serve all youth, including youth with disabilities and other disconnected youth. The NCWD/Youth website contains publications, content organized by state, and a newsletter.

The Work Site The Office of Employment Support Programs (OESP) ensures that the Social Security Administration delivers world-class service to beneficiaries who want to work. Using the Work Site, social security beneficiaries can obtain information about cash benefit programs, employment support programs, and where they can get the services they need to make a successful entry into the workforce.

Relocation

Abilities Network The Abilities Network and the Epilepsy Foundation of the Chesapeake Region are dedicated to assisting individuals of all abilities, and their families, in achieving their personal goals and in reaching their maximum potential. Services are tailored to support each person to live, work and socialize and to encourage the highest level of participation of each person in his/her community.

Military Youth on the Move (MYOM) A replacement for Military Teens on the Move, this site is an easy to use resource that reaches out to youth with creative ways to cope with issues that arise in the face of a move, such as transitioning to a new school, saying goodbye to friends, and getting involved in a new community. The website is divided into three target audiences: elementary school, middle school, and high school. Users simply click on their age group to get started. It also includes information specifically designed to help parents help their children navigate challenges such as a move, a new school, or making decisions about life after high school. Once inside the site, users search different topics that pertain to both military youth in particular and youth in general.

Relocation Apartments Relocation Apartments offers extensive resources for finding both short and long term accommodation. The website includes a relocation database, answers to relocation questions through a user-friendly interface, and a hub for individuals to find moving and relocation services in their area that can offer direct assistance with their move.
