Screening for Mental Health The Department of Defense (DoD) has partnered with Screening for Mental Health Inc. to provide service members and families with a free mental health self-assessment that can be taken online. This site has educational information about many mental health concerns, such as Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), anxiety, suicide prevention, and depression. The site provides a Suicide Risk Questionnaire for service and family members.

Force Health Protection & Readiness (FHP&R) The site includes deployment cycle information and links to supportive services for every branch of the military. The information is geared towards both service members and families.

National Institute of Mental Health This site addresses the research, prevention, and treatment of mental health disorders. There are multiple articles and documents addressing Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA)  This Department of Health and Human Services organization's mission is to focus on resilience and to support recovery for people at risk for mental health and substance use disorders. Among the many topics on mental health and substance use, the website provides articles on Understanding and Helping the Suicidal Person, Teen Suicide, and What to do if a Friend or Relative is Suicidal. SAMHSA has an emergency number for individuals experiencing a mental health or substance use crisis. The number to call is 1-800-273-TALK (1-800-273-8255).

Suicide Prevention Resource Center The Suicide Prevention Resource Center's mission is to implement the National Strategy for Suicide Prevention by assisting government and private sources to develop and implement programs and policies to prevent suicide. This website provides comprehensive information on suicide prevention basics, including warning signs and ways to helps someone if they are suicidal.
