Environmental Compliance Highlights

ECBC has assisted the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers with remediation of various formerly used defense sites associated with past chemical weapons activity at Spring Valley, Washington, D.C.; Mong Mong, Guam; Rocky Mountain Arsenal, Colo.; and countless other locations. ECBC supported these projects by developing site-specific plans for monitoring environmental media and their breakdown products. Staff developed risk assessments and hazard analyses and provided general site safety support. ECBC personnel also were responsible for equipment mobilization as well as site operation logistics.

Currently, ECBC supports the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Environmental Response Team. The Center is working to improve their chemical/biological monitoring techniques, health and safety protocol development, new technology assessments and field assistance during emergency response operations where chemical or biological agents are known or suspected to be present.
