Chairman will appear on this Sunday ET to talk about the recently passed spending bill and the "fiscal cliff."

The House just passed H.J.Res. 117, a temporary funding measure to keep the government operating until March 2013, on a vote of 329-91.

Rogers: "We must pass this bill to maintain the continuity of our government – for our people, nation, and for the stability of our economy"

"CR will keep the government’s doors open and its wheels turning – even if this is not our preferred way of going about it" -

The House is currently debating H.J.Res. 117 - the Continuing Resolution to fund the federal government for the next 6 months.

Some minor changes to current law were needed to prevent detrimental changes to government programs:

CR introduced yesterday keeps funding rates consistent w/ FY12, making slight increase to meet Budget Control Agreement

Yesterday, Committee introduced a bill to fund government until March, provide stability to ensure economic recovery

ICYMI: Committee introduces Continuing Resolution funding bill to prevent government shutdown, maintain bipartisan deal

Moving forward, encourages "return to timely regular order of business on important funding legislation"

CR also provides $6.4B in disaster relief to provide relief/recovery assistance after natural disasters like Hurricane Isaac.

CR is "good-faith effort to provide limited, yet fair and adequate funding for government..." - Committee Chairman
