The Department of Defense Domestic Dependent Elementary and Secondary Schools (DDESS) is currently accepting applications under examining authority of 10 U.S.C., Section 2164, for position(s) in DDESS Schools.  This vacancy announcement may be used for the purpose of filling multiple temporary, intermittent, on-call seasonal positions for the remainder of School Year 2011-2012..

 

The purpose of this position is to provide instructional services to students, grades Kindergarten-12, as a substitute for the regular teacher.

 

This is an Excepted Service Position.

 

Applicants who have a high school diploma or GED but less than a Bachelor's degree will be titled Training Instructor.

Utilizes knowledge of skills and content of discipline together with experience in teaching, the incumbent plans, develops, and organizes objectives, lesson plans, and daily class work in a manner that will ensure adequate coverage within the time frame allotted for the discipline content and skills required to meet approved course outlines and curriculum objectives of the school system.  Conducts classroom instruction using modern professional teacher principles, practices, and techniques appropriate to the subject matter or grade level(s) of assignment.  Uses imagination and judgement in selecting, adapting, or modifying teaching methods or subject matter of te disciplines; facilitates variations to accomodate individual differences, interests, and abilities, stimulates intrest and motivation, and improves the quality of instruction.  Trains and encourages students to develop skills in research, making maximum use of educational library/media centers.  Participates in testing programs as required.  May be required to supervise student during outside activities, in the lunchroom, during bus arrivals and departures, etc.

Applicants must hold a High School diploma or GED certificate and experience in working with groups of children.  Applicants with at least a high school diploma or GED but less than a Bachelor's degree can be considered for and hired for the Training Instructor position.


Must meet OPM minimum qualification standards to be considered for this position.

HOW YOU WILL BE EVALUATED:

Your application will initially be reviewed to determine whether you meet the minimum eligibility and qualifications requirements.  If you are qualified, you will then receive a rating based on the degree to which your background matches the knowledge, skills, and abilities for the position listed.  If, after reviewing your resume and supporting documentation, a determination is made that you inflated your qualifications and/or experience, your score may be adjusted to more accurately reflect your abilities or you may be found ineligibile/not qualified.  Your application will be placed in one of three categories:  Best Qualified:

Applicant has 4 year bachelor's degree, in education, from an accredited institution AND Educator's Certificate, Highly Qualified:  Applicant has 4 year bachelor's degree from an accredited institution or 1 year or more experience working with children in a day care (or similar setting) or school substituting, or Qualified:  Applicant has high school diploma and one year of work experience.  Within these categories, applicants for Veterans Preference will receive selection priority over non-veterans.
