Release Information
- What:
- With Census Day -- April 1, 2010 -- only six months away, U.S. Census Bureau Director Robert M. Groves will lead a media briefing with mayors attending the U.S. Conference of Mayors' Fall Leadership Meeting on the Census Bureau's efforts and strategies to ensure a full and accurate count in the 2010 Census.
- The 2010 Census questionnaire will be one of the shortest ever -- there are only 10 questions, requiring about 10 minutes to complete. Census data are used to apportion congressional seats to states, to distribute more than $400 billion in federal funds to local, state and tribal governments each year, and to make decisions about what community services to provide.
