  • DOC Travel Regulation
    Department of Commerce Travel Management website. Provides links and information regarding ADTRAV, Per Diem Rates, Federal Travel Regulation Training (FTR), Federal Travel Regulations, Travel Abroad, and Travel Charge Card.
  • GSA Travel Regulation
    The FTR is the regulation contained in 41 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), Chapters 300 through 304, which implements statutory requirements and Executive branch policies for travel by Federal civilian employees and others authorized to travel at government expense.
  • Leave in Conjunction with Official Travel
    Contains NIST policy relating to combining annual leavel in conjunction with official travel. It is NIST's policy that no more than one day of annual leave may be taken for each day of official duty while in travel status.
  • Group Travel Regulations
    Group travel consists of the following: for travel within the continental United States, the approval will be for groups of fifteen or more. For travel outside the continental United States, the approval will be for groups of eight or more.

  • Asisstance in-Kind
    Assistance in kind is a gift of travel expenses for a NIST employee from an entity outside of NIST. For a travel gift to be assistance in kind, the sponsor organization must pay for the travel expenses directly, i.e., no funds are transferred between NIST and the sponsor organization

  • Travel Related CompTime
    Compensatory time off for travel is a form of compensatory time off that may be earned by an employee for time spent in travel status away from the employee's official duty station when such time is not otherwise compensable. 
  • IT Policies Associated with Foreign Travel
    Contains requirements for using information technology (IT) and/or connecting to the DOC/NIST IT infrastructure while on foreign travel.
  • Foreign Travel Order Requirements
    Contains information from the Office of International and Academic Affairs (OIAA) related to international travel.OIAA must be informed of ALL international travel by NIST staff in order to ensure that travel complies with current U.S. foreign policy objectives.
  • Foreign Travel Briefing (in Commerce Learning Center)Defensive Travel Briefing is required for all NIST employees and associates who will be going on Official Foreign Travel. Based on changing world situations, it is suggested that the traveler take the briefing within the month of anticipated travel. For personal travel, attendance is not mandatory but it is recommended that you contact the Office of Security for latest travel advisories.
