The Air Force Civil Engineer Center, a new CE field operating agency, merges the Air Force Center for Engineering and the Environment and Air Force Real Property Agency, both based in San Antonio, with the Air Force Civil Engineer Support Agency at Tyndall Air Force Base, Fla., to form a more than 1,600-person strong unit.

A primary purpose of MIL-STD-1916, which went into effect in April 1996, is to encourage defense contractors, along with other commercial organizations supplying goods and services to the government, to leverage efficient and effective acceptance techniques based on process control (prevention), instead of prescribed sampling requirements, to ensure total conformance to contract requirements. MIL-STD-1916 fosters cooperative relationships between supplier and customer. The goal is to support the movement away from an AQL-based inspection (detection) strategy to implementation of an effective prevention-based strategy
including a comprehensive QMS, continuous improvement, and collaboration between the government and suppliers.

The document provides initial Departmental guidance for implementation of the Section 901 requirements. This guidance is effective for the certification of covered defense business system funding beginning in FY 2013, whether appropriated or non appropriated and supersedes the DoD IT Defense Business Systems Investment Review Process Guidance, dated January 2009.

The document will assist user in understanding: 

•The DoD’s shift to an investment review and certification approach that groups DBSs into portfolios (by functions and sub-functions) to promote visibility across the DoD’s business mission area (BMA), to eliminate redundancy and enhance interoperability of DBSs, and to foster an end-to-end view that enables integration across the DoD’s business enterprise;

• The development and use of Functional Strategies and their alignment to the DoD’s strategic goals and priorities;  

• The development and use of Organizational Execution Plans that present portfolios of systems, by functional area, for each DoD Component for review, evaluation and certification; and

 • The incorporation of the content of both Functional Strategies and Organizational Execution Plans into the BEA.

I'm the wireless engineer on the Senate side.

I am very curious what the millitary is using for 802.11 hardware and what the setups are that you use for enclassified and classified data on 802.11. My predacessor started here with wep128 and pushing everyone into a firware dmz. The only allowed access was for VPN.

I'm looking at moving well away from that to an AES standard using EAP-Fast.
