Who Will be Reviewing my Application?
All applications are reviewed by study sections, also called Scientific Review Groups (SRGs), composed of extramural (definition) scientists who are experts in the research areas of the grants they review. The organizer of the study section is the Scientific Review Administrator, who is an NIH staff person. Some study sections are organized by the CSR (definition) to review certain mechanisms, including Fs, most R21s, and R01s not submitted in response to an RFA (definition) Other applications, notably Ks, Ts, and R03s are reviewed by study sections organized by our NIDDK Review Branch.
