Roles in the Corps: LAVs
Light Armored Vehicle (LAV) crewmen operate and maintain the LAVs and their weapon systems. These vehicles can provide a self-contained and highly mobile combined arms force.
The mainstay of the Ground Combat Element is the infantry, but every Marine on the ground is ably supported by artillery, amphibious assault vehicles, tanks and combat engineers. See more roles on the Ground.
