HEIDELBERG, Germany -- All U.S. Army Europe Headquarters' directorates should identify any unused, excess or unserviceable safes and schedule them for turn-in or maintenance.
According to Lt. Col. John Callery, the Relocation Task Force Logistics Officer, directorates need to consolidate classified material into the minimum required number of safes in order to free up safes for turn-in and maintenance.
Safes need to be empty and have their locks set to the default combination prior to turn-in. Professional staff will move the safes; neither Soldiers or civilian employees are required to move the safes.
Safes will be stored temporarily on Spinelli Barracks where the safe engineer will repair unserviceable safes for future use. Additionally, these safes will be palletized and ready for delivery to USAREUR staff directorates for use in their new offices at Wiesbaden.
"Getting the safes to Spinelli Barracks allows us to take two or three unserviceable safes and use them to build a serviceable safe," Callery explained. For those directorates who are moving into the new Mission Command Center, they will receive new safes that comply with the building specifications, Callery said.
For more information on arranging safes for pick up or maintenance, directorate representatives should contact 370-9161.
